Welcome to my latest blog post about saving money. Today we are going to look at 6 of the best cashback apps available in the UK right now (with an extra anomaly thrown in at the end for good measure!). In the current climate where every penny counts, cashback apps and websites have become essential tools for shoppers to save money. These platforms offer a simple yet effective way to earn cash back on everyday purchases, from groceries to electronics and everything in between.

Let’s delve into some of the top cashback apps and websites available in the UK, and how they work to help you save.

1. TopCashback

Overview

TopCashback is one of the leading cashback websites in the UK, offering deals with thousands of retailers. Users can earn cashback by clicking through their platform to make purchases at partner stores.

How it Works

After signing up for a free account, browse through the available offers on TopCashback. Upon finding a deal you like, click on it to be redirected to the retailer’s website. Once you make a purchase, TopCashback will track it and reward you with a percentage of the purchase amount back as cashback. You can withdraw this cashback via various methods, including Paypal, bank transfer and gift cards.

Overview

Similar to TopCashback, Quidco is another popular cashback platform in the UK. It boasts partnerships with over 4,500 retailers and offers competitive cashback rates.

How it Works

Create a free account on Quidco and browse through available cashback offers. When you find a deal you like, click through to the retailer’s website and make your purchase as usual. Quidco then tracks the purchase and rewards you with cashback, which you can withdraw via Paypal or bank transfer with a minimum withdrawal of just £1; or you can access the cashback through the purchase of gift cards.

4. Jam Doughnut

Jam Doughnut is an instant cashback app, offering users the convenience of immediate rewards for their purchases. With partnerships with hundreds of brands, users can earn cash back on various spending categories, from shopping and dining to entertainment.

How it Works

Download the Jam Doughnut app and create a free account. You can then browse through a wide range of cashback offers available for both online and in-store purchases. Upon finding a desired offer, proceed with the purchase of a giftcard for the amount you choose. Once the purchase is confirmed, Jam Doughnut instantly deposits the cashback into your wallet, eliminating the typical waiting period associated with cashback rewards. Cashback is deposited into your account as points.  100 points equates to £1 and you can withdraw to your bank account once you have 1000 points, or £10.

5. CheckoutSmart

CheckoutSmart is a cashback app specifically tailored for grocery shopping in the UK. It offers cashback on purchases made at major supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Asda.

How it Works

After downloading the app and signing up, have a browse through the available offers on CheckoutSmart. 6. Airtime Rewards

Overview

Airtime Rewards takes a unique approach to cashback by allowing users to earn rewards that can be used to pay off their mobile phone bill.

How it Works

Link your debit and credit cards to the Airtime Rewards app, which automatically tracks spending at partner retailers. When you make a purchase with a linked card at a participating store, you will earn cashback in the form of rewards. These rewards can then be used to reduce your mobile phone bill with selected network providers.  Some network providers are not yet supported.  Sadly mine isn’t, but if yours is, this is a great way to make a saving on what can be an expensive bill.

7. HyperJar

Hyperjar cashback

Overview

While this is not technically a cashback app, HyperJar offers instant cashback within its app when you purchase gift vouchers for a wide range of retailers. This cashback can then be used for that retailer or you can elect to have the cashback available for use with any retailer. Right now new customers will get 1-1.5% cashback on all spending with their Hyperjar card (new customers who sign up by 31st March 2024). This cashback will run until August 2024, so another reason to sign up. I review HyperJar in this post and I actually really rate it and genuinely use it as a way to manage my budget.

How it works

In the app, tap the cashback icon at the bottom of the screen. Select the retailer you want to buy a gift voucher for and purchase using either money in your jars or via applepay. There are cashback offers up to 20% available so the savings can be pretty good, especially if you’re only buying gift vouchers for things you were buying anyway. You can even buy vouchers for your grocery shop which will quickly add up if you put your shopping budget onto vouchers and get cashback!

Conclusion

In conclusion, cashback apps and websites can help you to save money on your everyday purchases. With a wide range of options available, you have the opportunity to earn cashback on everything from groceries to mobile phone bills. Whether you prefer traditional cashback websites like TopCashback and Quidco or specialised apps like CheckoutSmart and Airtime Rewards, incorporating these platforms into your shopping routine can lead to significant savings over time. These savings can be put towards savings and investment, paying down debt, or you can try a savings challenge for a specific purpose, like my Christmas savings challenge. Whatever you decide to do, the extra money will be a welcome addition to your purse.

Getting cashback for things you were going to buy anyway is an easy way to boost your budget.  My advice is that it’s always worth checking the cashback rates on each platform to ensure you are getting the best deal, as some will have offers on for extra cashback at different times. Also, some retailers are only available on certain platforms, e.g. Nando’s is only available on Jam Doughnut, and who doesn’t love a cheeky Nando’s? Not that we have one in Cornwall, but that is a story for another day!

Will you sign up for these cashback apps to earn on your everyday spending?
